Batik is a traditional textile art that uses wax-resist dyeing to create intricate patterns on fabric. I hand paint every dot, every mark with melted wax to keep the dye from penetrating, submerge the fabric in dye, and then repeat the process with different colors and layers. The wax flows and cracks in unusual ways making each art piece unique and perfectly imperfect.
