Batik Silk Paintings

Batik silk painting is an ancient art methodology for creating design on fabric using wax and dye. Images and patterns are formed by applying successive layers of dye and melted wax to natural fabric, leaving a signature surface crackle. In my batik silk paintings, I surrender control. The wax flows and cracks with a life of its own, adding its mark to mine. Colors blend and layer in unconventional ways. The result is a collaboration between me (artist) and how I see things with the medium itself and what it chooses to do.
