Dive into the vibrant world of batik art in this beginner-friendly workshop! Connect with your ancestors through one of the oldest forms of art making.

 

When: 1-4 p.m. on Sat May 4, Sat May 18, & Sun May 19, 2024

 

Where: Nobo Art Center at 4929 Broadway #E Boulder, CO 80304, in the                    Emerald City 

 

Learn this traditional wax-resist dyeing technique on luxurious silk fabric, as you create stunning patterns and designs. In this workshop, we will use brushes and/or wooden stamps to paint wax onto stunning silk scarves that can be worn or turned into beautiful wall art.

 

Led by experienced batik artist Sam Hauser, this hands-on class will introduce you to the fundamentals of batik, from applying wax to tub dyeing colors. Unleash your creativity and take home a masterpiece of your own making!

 

All supplies will be provided. Just bring yourself and your excitement to learn something new!

 

Price is $325/ person which includes all supplies and personal instruction by Sam Hauser over a 3 day workshop.

 

Ages 16 and up.

 

Children aged 8 and up may participate on the condition that their parent books a spot to take the workshop alongside them.

Batik process uses hot wax as a medium. Burns are possible, but unlikely. Participate at your own risk. If a burn or any other injury does occur during the Batik Basics workshop, neither Sam Hauser Art & Design nor NoBo Art District will be held responsible or legally liable.

 

All sales are final and in good faith. Refunds for unexpected emergencies may be given at the discretion of Sam Hauser & the Nobo Art District if you are unable to attend the workshop. April 15, 2024 is the deadline to request a refund and to drop out of the workshop.
